    220108 - Softball-Girls Jr Lg 13-18

    The Athletic Division strives to offer a wide variety of quality youth activities to the children of Jacksonville and surrounding areas. These activities range from youth baseball, basketball, skate park and much more. We encourage positive participation and good sportsmanship with all of our programs.

    There will be a $25 Administrative Fee for all refunds.

    ASSESSMENT INFORMATION:
    T-ball-there are no assessments for this age group.
    PeeWee-there are no assessments for this age group.

    Midget Boys-assessments, a parents and coaches meeting will be held on March 12 at 6PM at the Commons Recreation Center Gym.

    Minor Girls-assessments, a parents and coaches meeting will be held on March 14 at 6PM at the Commons Recreation Center Gym.

    Little League Boys-assessments, a parents and coaches meeting will be held on March 13 at 6PM at the Commons Recreation Center Gym.

    Junior Boys-No assessments will be held, coaches meeting TBD
    Junior Girls-No assessments will be held, coaches meeting TBD

    Practices will begin in March, with games being scheduled for May and June.

    FAQ

    What equipment is required?
    -We provide a team shirt and hat/visor. (You will be asked for this information during registration, no extra shirts or hats are ordered)
    -You will be responsible for a glove, pants/belt, socks and cleats. (Ask your coach for colors)
    -Optional:
    • Baseball bats – (ages 7-12 not to exceed 33” in length or 2 ¼ inches in diameter. Must be BPF 1.15) (14U & 18U bats shall not weigh numerically more than 3 ounces less than the length. Bat cannot exceed 2 5/8 inches in diameter and 34” in length. Composite barrel bats must be certified and marked BBCOR .50)
    • Softball bats – Must meet the 2004 ASA Bat Performance Standard
    • Batting helmet and catchers gear

    Will the games be played on Saturday?
    -Yes games will be played on Saturdays. We’ve even been known to have make-up games on Sunday if we have a lot of rain out games. Sunday games would be scheduled around 1:30PM.

    Where will practice and the games be held?
    -Practice will be twice a week between Monday – Saturday starting after 5PM
    -Once games begin practices will be cut back to one time a week.
    - Possible locations for practice are: Jacksonville Commons Recreation (Youth and Adult fields), Jack Amyette, Kerr Street, Northeast Creek, Jacksonville Commons Elementary/Middle School, Jacksonville High School, Northwoods Middle School and Bell Fork Elementary School.
    -Games will typically be twice a week Monday - Saturday( T-ball from 5:30-6:15PM) (8U, 10U,12U, 14U & 18U after 6PM)
    -Possible locations for games are: Jacksonville Commons Recreation (Youth and Adult fields), Jack Amyette, Kerr Street, Northeast Creek, Onslow Pines, Stump Sound, Richland’s Steed Park and Morton Elementary.

    Will I be placed on the same team as last year?
    -If you are returning player from the previous year and you are not ageing up you will be placed on the same team. If a coach does not return the players will stay together and a new coach will be issued. If you do not wish to be placed on the same team you can ask to be placed back into the draft. ALL request need to be made in writing on the waiver form and are passed on to the coaches. Requests are not guaranteed.

    Will there be assessments?

    320505 - Base Camp-Jacksonville Commons Middle School

    Base Day Camp - Onsite activities, local opportunities and guest speakers. A few field trips are offered each session to include local venues such as: gymnastics, parks, farms, and recreation centers.

    Days: Monday - Friday
    Time: 9AM - 4PM
    Location: Jacksonville Commons Middle School

    Please send a lunch and two snacks each day, as well as a refillable water bottle.

    320508 - Stepping Stones

    Stepping Stones Camp - A half day program for younger children accommodating nap requirements. The camp helps to develop social and physical skills. Activities include: story telling, group play, crafts, guest speaqkers, and water play.

    Days: Monday - Friday
    Time: 8AM - 12Noon
    Location: Kerr Street Recreation Center

    Introduction to Water, Level 1: For the child who has desire to learn, is potty trained & can separate from parent.

    Level 2: For the child who will submerge mouth, nose, and eyes; blow bubbles through mouth and nose; comfortable maintaining front/back float and recover to standing position; swim on front and back; explores arm and leg action for at least five fee with support

    Level 3: For the child who will submerge head in a rhythmic patter; open eyes underwater; pick up submerged object; comfortable floating face-down; push off from edge on front or back and glide unassisted; roll over from front to back and back to front; combine arm/leg action, using any combination of simultaneous action on front and back

    Level 4: For the child who will jump into deep water; submerge and retrieve object; bobs with head fully submerged; rotary breathing with the body in a horizontal position; swim front/back crawl 25 yards and is comfortable in deep water

    Swim lessons with a certified swim instructor.

    There is a $25 Administrative fee for all refunds.
